Inovectrum is a specialist technology practice focused on connectivity for medical devices and clinical environments. The work connects device architecture, network behavior, electrical safety, EMC, interoperability, cybersecurity, regulatory science, and the evidence needed to support sound technical decisions.
Two complementary business lines shape the practice. Services provide focused support for defined product, evaluation, and FDA-facing questions. Research and development brings healthcare requirements into collaborative programs exploring emerging networks, computing, assurance methods, and connected-care infrastructure.
Inovectrum works directly with medical device organizations, healthcare institutions, research sponsors, universities, standards groups, and technology collaborators. The operating model is intentionally specialized, with collaboration structured around the technical scope of each engagement or program.

Dr. Omar Al-Kalaa
Dr. Al-Kalaa is a leading voice in wireless healthcare innovation, with a distinguished track record at the intersection of medical devices, regulatory science, and next-generation wireless technologies.
With over 15 years of experience spanning federal research, standards development, and real-world healthcare deployments, Dr. Al-Kalaa has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of connected medical technologies. As a Senior Member of IEEE and a former senior wireless scientist at the U.S. FDA, he has led nationally recognized initiatives on 5G-enabled healthcare, contributed to FDA guidance on electromagnetic compatibility, and helped establish testing frameworks now recognized across the medical device industry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Al-Kalaa has bridged partnerships with key organizations, including NIST, NSF, the VA, MDIC, and ANSI. These collaborations have contributed to major advancements in wireless coexistence, spectrum etiquette, and emerging healthcare technologies. At Inovectrum, Dr. Al-Kalaa brings this depth of expertise to innovators navigating wireless integration, regulatory compliance, and healthcare connectivity.

- Chair (2026–present), Subcommittee 7 on Spectrum Etiquette under ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C63; formerly Vice Chair.
- Workgroup Secretary for ANSI C63.27, supporting publication and FDA recognition of wireless coexistence testing methodologies.
- Represented FDA in NITRD’s Wireless Spectrum Research and Development initiative.
- Founder and co-chair of the MDIC 5G-enabled Medical Device Initiative.
- Consulted in a prior FDA role on medical device submissions including 510(k), De Novo, PMA, and IDE pathways.
- Mentor for the NSF Ideas Lab program on breaking the low-latency barrier for verticals in next-generation wireless networks.
